In case if you are keen to achieve skills in cybersecurity, then keep in mind there are two parts of cyber security skills. One with infrastructure space, which combines networking and security that skills with zero trust network architecture; and SASE, which is promoted by Cisco, Zscaler, PaloAlto, Fortinrt, Checkpoint Technologies etc. The other one is Application security like Dev sec ops, which is part of the cloud security deployment with the Cloud providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Online courses are definitely the way to go! Try to go for 1 basic course, which should cover theoretical concepts like the 7 steps of the cybersecurity kill chain process as well as the legal and ethical issues of cybersecurity. Once you finish, you should immediately move on to more crucial skills ie learning to hack. These courses are more specific to each step within the kill chain process and will be more useful in your cybersecurity career. Learning how to operate in Linux environment is of utmost importance, and specifically Kali Linux, which is a hacker's must-have due to its outfit of various tools such as

  1. Wireshark

  2. Nmap/Zenmap

  3. Metasploit

IMO these 3 are the more important apps to familiarise yourself with in order to give you a good head start in your cybersecurity career :)

Hope this helps!
