How much does it cost to get a driver's license? Is private really cheaper than school?

Personally, private was a lot cheaper for me as I was able to managed my pace and learning curve. I completed it in 10 lessons and found an affordable driving coach too. I spent in total less than 1.2k!

I spend under $3K at BBDC (can't remember the number, but definitely under $3K), going through the structured theory and practical lessons, etc to get my license. Did not skip any lessons in between, and did quite a few practise sessions after finishing the content.

(Although I have not driven since).

I know a friend who managed to get her license under $2K via the private route.
