Typically people only post when they go cafes.
i guess most will spend within means and still do go for hawker food.
Cafes aren't cheap after all.

Personally, on IG, I always see many of my peers at cafes even on weekdays, so its quite a common sight. I feel that I would not mind going to a cafe, maybe once a month with close friends, or even for special events such as their birthdays etc. However, if I am not meeting them, I prefer simple food from the hawker or food centres in our neighbourhoods. I think having breakfast from the nearest market is better than having a late brunch on weekends. I prefer having more meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) than having 1 heavy brunch.
In terms of spending, I feel that it is not that worth to eat at cafes, when you can make your own all-day breakfast at home, but the only exception would be to meet up with my friends. Hence, I would not mind spending once in a blue moon. So in general, I would go to cafe perhaps only once in 1-2 months.

DEFINITELY TEAM HAWKER.
Now that I am happy having my own scrambled eggs with sourdough, and knowing the cost of those items, I definitely will not pay such a premium at cafes for the same dish.

I think I spend around $20 on average but it may be more....

I don't usually eat brunch though XD But i go to (kpop) cafe for drinks / desserts. If it's drinks it's usually $7 or less, then if with desserts it'll be $15 or less.
