Create a proper schedule to know when you should spend time at work and to spend time with the family. Of course, discuss the situation with your partner and to reach a mutual agreement.

Its normal to prioritize own's growth. not selfish at all.
the problem is.... if I can't make more money now, I can make more money in 10 yrs later, or 20 yrs later.
if I missed out on the growing stage of my kids.... its permanently, i can't revisit this in 10 yrs or 20 yrs later.
and as every parent will tell you... once your kids are teenagers, you really miss the time when they are at their cutest as toddlers
