How can i best maximise the use of this card?
Found it lying in my wallet (subscribed this in 2018 for travel purposes)
Want to use for public transport rides in SG but realised that it doesn’t update the amount deducted on the spot..

Me! I really love YouTrip, it's quite a gamechanger for overseas trips I feel - in any place where contactless payment has become mainstream.
I use it for overseas spending and any online purchases involving other currencies. I really like it as the FX rates are one of the best out there. You can store up to SGD5000 on the card at one go so it's great for even big ticket purchases.
I'd say convenience is the biggest win factor of this card. If you wanna pay for something in a foreign currency but don't hold the currency, they'll convert your SGD in the card at the live FX rates and pay for it. So really, with this card you never have to worry about FX rates for online purchases.
About updating the amount deducted - it functions like a debit card but payments are processed through mastercard so maybe on the weekends you might see a delay in the time taken for transactions to be reflected on the app.

Hey Anon,
Since we can't travel for now, I largely use YouTrip for online overseas purchases (e.g. TaoBao) because their rates are pretty spot on and I don't own any other multi-currency cards!
And yep, you're right that it doesn't update the amount deducted on the spot for public transport.
The fares for each of your bus and train rides will not be reflected in your statement individually.
Instead, they'll be presented as a lump sum of either your total MRT/BUS fare in the last 5 days, or when your total fare exceeds S$15 – whichever comes first._

But I leave it in my wallet anyway for days I forget to bring my EZ-Link card out!
