Hi Rachel,
Mentorship is very important for a startup founder. Mentors help to guide us in the right direction and focus on what is needed at different stages of growth. The support you get from mentors and peers is important, at the end of the day, you will need a shoulder to cry upon, a hand to shake, an ear to hear, and support to rely on. Without a direction in your life, you are as useful as a camera with its cover on.
I have one-way mentorship from female leaders such as Hooi Ling on how she scale Grab and work with the team to solve problems together. A few of the great mentors I’ve includes industry veterans like Umang, Varun, and Patrick Peck to leaders like Kenneth Oh guiding us to doing the right things in life and business.
It is important to remember that as with all relationships, you have to spend time and effort to build the relationship. Finding a good mentor is not easy, but it definitely helps to go in a long way.
