Hi, my in-laws moved in with us while their house is under renovation. This has caused a spike in our expenses. I spoke to my wife but she brushed it off saying we're family. Any ideas for a win-win?

I agree that we are family and there's no need to be so calculative. But we cannot ignore the rising expenses, it could take up to half a year before their house is ready...

Speak it out with your wife about it.

Help her understand that you're uncomfortable with it.

See if there can there be anything to be done together to resolve this issue together.

In some family, In-laws will be willing to contribute to allay the expenses increased.

Otherwise, See if your wife is willing to help out more with it. Or discussed together how you guys are going to fund this increase expenses for the next 6 months.
