Hi. Is it important/common to get home insurance (not fire insurance) for a 5 room HDB flat?

My parents just bought a 24 year old resale flat and doing a full renovation, so wondering if this is necessary. We currently only have fire insurance.

Home insurance a type of insurance that you can purchase in addition to or to replace fire insurance. It is much more comprehensive than fire insurance and protects you against losses on your personal belongings, interior/exterior house fixtures, renovations and provides liability and medical coverage.

It is not mandatory to get. However if the contents of your home has plenty of expensive items, then you may want to consider a home insurance.
