Hi I am 43 years old. 730k cash savings. 200k in SSB. HDB fully paid. CPF SA 198k. CPF OA 70k.

Not sure of what kind of investment I should make? Should I invest 500k into vanguard index fund now? I have opened interactive brokers account. But the index fund price seems high. With annual expenses 30k, can I afford to retire now?

What are your thoughts?

Annual expense of 30k means u need 750k invested into VTI and you're ready for your retirement.

Every year, your goal is for it to increase by more than 4% so that you are able to sell 30k worth of stocks to fund your expense.

$30k / 12 = $2.5k

CPF sure hit ERS. Then cpflife will give u ~$2k+ per mth @65

With $730k / 30k ~ 24 years

43 + 24 = 67 years old

I think no issue retiring now, based on mathematic. Investing in index fund is additional "bonus".
