Hi!
There are plenty of useful responses here. I'd just like to point out that Syfe Equity100 is an equity-based portfolio, so you can also look at the underlying holdings in the Equity100 portfolio, and look at how that market did that year. That will give you a better idea. You might think that a 15% return is very good, but you should look at the markets that the Equity100 portfolio is exposed to and look at the benchmark for the year.
e.g. if your Equity100 portfolio invests in US ETFs, don't look at China. If it invests in tech stocks, don't look at bank stocks. etc etc
Also, 15% in a year when all the markets crashed would be very good returns, but 15% when all the markets returned 30% is an entirely different story.
In 2020, US stock market did well. China markets rallied too. UK, Japan, still seem to be rather stagnant. So it all depends where your exposure is. And just cause US/China did well this year, doesn't mean they will continue to do well next year. They might, they might not. But if you have dilly dallied at the start of 2020, thinking about which market to enter - you would have missed returns on them all.
Bottomline:
Compare apples to apples to get a better idea
Past performance is no guarantee of future returns
Most important is to invest ASAP so that you enter the market and start harvesting returns
Good luck!
