Hi, am a noob at investing.. Was wondering if I should buy and sell every 8years (since every 10 years there is a financial depression), or should I keep my investment all the way for say 20-30 years?

It's more of time in the market than timing the market. No one can figure out when the market will crash nor when the next bull run will come. We only have 40-50yrs of investing time, unless you are able to predict the future accurately, else just invest slowly along the way.

Whether you are noob or pro, you would not be able to read the markets accurately and invest in a way that beat a buy and hold strategy long term.

I would encourage you to buy and hold, and get on with life over things you have control in.
