How can we talk about Singapore as an inclusive society? Singles are economic contributors to the nation, but PAP/HDB policies treat them unfairly. Singles are the main caregivers of their ageing parents, and should be allowed to buy BTO flats in mature estates close to their parents' HDB homes. The current policies are encouraging more young adults to migrate/work overseas with no intention to return. Our pro-family policies for HDB flats are grossly flawed.

I strongly agree as well. We too have aging parents where we too want to be near them as well. We are contribute to Singapore as taxpayers but purely treated like 2nd citizen just because singles have not gotten married yet. resales are so expensive but singles are also paying for their aging parents. Couples have 2 salaries to work together while singles only have 1 salary for 2 parents and other liabilitie.
This totally do not make sense when even BALANCED of flats, singles are not given a chance to bid which maybe there can be a timeline which singles may at least get an opportunity as well ??? Even dogs are sometimes given balance of food, sad singles are not even given a chance to apply BTOs balance of flats.
This foreigners, please do not envy Singaporeans as though we all are able to own a flat, it depends if you are married or not and your fate is sealed with the only choice to live far away to buy new flats, far from your family and friends who grew up with you.

I strongly agree too. This question was posted in 2021, now is 2024 and even then, the rules had not changed much though singles could have the opportunity to purchase mature estate but comes with much stringent rules (e.g. 10 yrs MOP). Some may have said, it is better than nothing however it took exactly 3 years to see a bit light or minor changes to the housing rules for Singles. I also agree to one of the comments that Singles should not only be restricted to 2 room bto but able to purchase 3 rms or above, so long we could justify it or as a case by case basis. Some married couples couldn't even afford 3 rms and above bto resulting wasted ballots or untaken slots where this opportunity could have been given to those Singles. Hope in the nearer future, there are more options for Singles.
