As many had answered, it depends on your own research and whether you have special insights into the company. I know of many who worked at big companies who have kept their vested stocks forever, and as their stocks appreciated, it formed more than 50% of their portfolio. I assume they have special insights into their company which gave them that conviction.

When I was young and greed took over. each stock will be around 50% of my portfolio during those penny stock days.

Majority of my portfolio was in SGX. I knew there and then that SGX was considered a monopolistic company given how regardless of market sentiments, it'd still earn from trades. Hence I bought into SGX. But sold it off after prices seemed to hover about it's high and with the reduction of IPOs, it may have lost a bit of its edge for it current share price.
