Haha, different yardsticks for diff peeps. For me, it's you can eat, be comfortable, travel together, share good and bad (Not only good - good everyone wants to share) together then can be friend. In terms of work, the friend can impartially work together professionally - not covering up for one another, but brave enough to speak up what's right. + sharpening one another as iron sharpens iron - I personally had the privilege to find the few rare bosses-friends like this.
If just Hi and Bye..., do some company community work together, gather together privately only sometimes, it's probably not friend yet.
