For those who buy US ETF stocks tracking top 500 companies, do you buy from the Singapore Market (SPDR S&P 500), or do you buy from the US market? For US market, what code is that?
Do you buy US ETF stocks from the Singapore Market (SPDR S&P 500), or from the US market? Newbie to investing here.
Hi there, depends what you're planning to do.
If you're planning to buy it via lump sum either as a one time buy or buy in every few months, I'd recommend VUSA, Ireland Domiciled s&p500 ETF. Is on the London stock exchange. Why buy from the LSE? As they have a treaty with the US where the dividends tax is 15%, whereas if you buy VOO, S&P500 ETF, you'll b taxed 30% for dividends. Atm as I'm still new, I only know that you can buy VUSA from scb trading, but there's a trading fee. If you're buying VOO, you can try TD Ameritrade for free trading, but it takes super long to open an account. Or tiger brokers or fsmone. I'm using fsmone.
If you're planning to set up a Regular Savings Plan (RSP) for Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA), you can go with FSMOne's RSP. Fees are around 1USD per month for the RSP. You can buy fractional shares if your capital is not high enough per month to buy a full stock.
Hope this helps. This is my sharing and not financial advice.
