Hey there, I think many answers in this thread (and in SG in general) will probably lean towards buying an HDB directly. Still, I think this article, which talks about both renting and buying first, is quite relevant to this discussion. For me personally, it really depends on several factors apart from financial prowess (which is arguably the most important), such as if you're seeking some time away from your family, or if you are also interested in investing in an asset that has seen its price rise constantly.
