For a young couple, is it always better to have a BTO as opposed to HDB resale (especially in terms of price)?

If you are getting a place to stay in the shortest time then I would say HDB resale. But if you are not rushing to get a place to stay and can wait, then BTO would be ideal.

In term of price, BTO would definitely be ideal as it is priced cheaper and you will not have to fork out a huge amount to renovate or refurbish the place later on when you get your keys. But then again, you will need to wait at least 4-5 years before construction is done?

HDB resale on the other hand will be priced higher as it is in the open market, price are solely based on both willing buyer and seller. Just because the HDB is priced at that amount does not equal to the value it is worth. Not to mention the cost you will need to come out with to renovate it to your liking.

All these are solely my own opinion. Still best to do your own research first before committing as there are certain grants that you may apply too. πŸ˜‰
