Hi. I was in the same situation as you. Both my partner and I were going thru traineeship programs during the 12-month grant assessment period. During that period, I was a full-timer during the last 4 months (after traineeship+unemployment) while my bf was a trainee thruout the assessment period.
The officer who attended to us told us that we're not considered as employed when we underwent our respective traineeship programs and that our situation is a special case - our grant assessment will be done before key collection, if it helps, we have already booked a unit (it's a disadvantage, because 4 years on, our salaries will be higher than when we applied for BTO.. So less grants given, or maybe none at all). Also, there seemed to be leniency.. The officer told me that if I was employed (as a full-timer) for at least 7 months, then she would have just leveraged on that to assess the amount of grant given. Too bad, I was 3 months short.
Hope this addresses your query.
