Considering to enhance careshield life, so that if touch wood, something happens to me, i wouldn't place (too much) financial strain on my partner (she is working full-time as well). I'm currently in my late 30s, and do not have any existing insurance plans. Does this make sense, or should i be considering something else?
If possible, I hope i don't have to pay premiums using cash - since careshield enhancement is payable via medisave, it feels right...
Hoping to hear some perspectives. Ty!

Hey! There are sooooo many unforeseeable circumstances that can happen to us, e.g. sudden job loss, sudden death, illness, accidents, breakups.. Its good to start thinking about the ones we can manage. Before you start upgrading your careshield life coverage you should look at getting better covered for hospitalisation costs, the number 1 bank breaker. Afterwhich you can consider a combination of income protection insurance which includes term, wholelife and careshield life supplement to cover situations like suddent death, disability or critical ilness. Check out the comparision tables here for shield, careshield life supplement and life insurance. https://plannerbee.co/best-careshield-life-supp... https://plannerbee.co/best-integrated-shield-in... https://plannerbee.co/best-integrated-shield-in... Lastly, keep some spare funds to invest, cos chancea of living a long life is also really high, so we need some retirement funds =)

It makes sense as it helps to provide disability income for the policyholder if unable to perform 3 out of 6 ADLs without enhancement. However, the Aviva careshield only provides payout upon 2 out of 6 ADLs. If you have looked into GE careshield, it provides a 300% initial payout with 1 out of 6 ADLs and monthly 50% monthly payout. This is the only plan in the market right now having such coverage.
