My biggest regret is going to NUS after my diploma. I wanted to get into IT but thought I would learn a lot of things in NUS that will be helpful in my career. I was too naive then and spent three years doing computer engineering at NUS spending around $35K by taking Tuition fee loan.
I merely got a pass degree and nobody ever in interview bothered to ask me anything about my degree. I worked part-time to take care of my personal expenses. I didn’t do much other than going to lectures, tutorial and examinations. There were a lot of opportunities outside studies at NUS but I never cared to participate. I didn’t enjoy my time there and was stressed most of the time managing studies and part time job. NUS was not for me. It took almost 5 years to completely payback my tuition fee loan.
I should have stopped after my diploma and went into some IT bootcamp or training for six months. I would have had a lot of savings and life would have been less stressful.
Some industries your degree has no meaning and IT is one of them.
