Do you stick to your agent for insurance you want to add = all under same insurance company? Or do you compare insurances among all companies and have insurance under different insurance company?

Wondering if one should stick to the agent or just go for the best insurance upon compared

Hi anon,

Personally, I think that a good agent will be worth his/her value even if it is a tied agent (i.e. only able to represent one company). However, there are independent financial advisors who can represent multiple companies, and this might be another option that you can look at.

I'm from an IFA, but to be honest, it doesnt mean an IFA would translate to better advice than a tied agent. I have seen good advice from tied agents as well. Having said that, if you decided to implement the plan via the IFA, chances are that he/she will be able to do so for you. With a wider range of companies and product, chances are good that you will find a plan that best suits you, regardless of the insurer.

My job is to provide the best advice to you and give you multiple options to choose from. Your job is to implement it. If you don't, I won't be able to assist you in your insurance needs either.

Hi, I would say if you have an agent that could understand your needs and do proper financial planning with you that will be fine. There are a few considerations for you to know:

1) You have to be open to different pov from agents on your portfolio, to help you understand whether your current agent is helping you with your financial planning.

2) If you have better coverages and cheaper options, what will you do?

3) The more you compare, the more you'll be lost and fall back into your comfort zone. I would suggest hearing 1-3 agents that have connections with you and are able to plan for you. From there you are in a better position to know whether you have all you need.
