Just started working so thought I could give back to the society, where do you guys donate to? Is it monthly? or one off? How many percent of my salary should I use to donate?

I used to donate $50 to Children Cancer Foundation every month and get tax rebate for it.
Then give.asia started up and i realised most people dun donate there so i change my tax rebate donation over to give.Asia.
One of the donation I sponsor is to ferry a husband body back to SG for burial because the oversea surgery did not save him and his family could not afford to bring his body back.
I learnt that sometimes money charity is good but action charity is even better.
IF you just started out, u can save ur money for a donation tt is worthwhile to ppl who need help but dun get help.
Meanwhile, u can save money first and do volunteer work which will even be more meaningful.
Hope my reply helps.

Don't really donate to charity per se but I do tithe 10% of my gross salary to church. Will consider contributing to help unfortunate kids via a Christian organisation once I have enough cash flow to do so

Financial Enthusiast, Budgeting at The Society
Any amount is a good amount that will helps, in small or big ways.
No amout is too little and no amout is too much.
You could choose to do 1 time or monthly.
Do monthly if you can afford but always plan your finances and budget well so that it is not a burden to give but rather you can give with joy and purpose.
Do read this guide to avoid giving to those that has some fees / admin charges where not all the $ goes to the people in need.

I know they need $ to run the operations but some were taking too much out of the donations. So we should avoid giving to those.
Instead, I would recommend :
1) One time: See those in china town, or older estate that might have truly hungry people, buy them food or bring them to see doc if they are sick rather than give them $ directly as you won't know what they will use it for (some may use it for Toto etc) .
2) Monthly: Like what the articles above by seedly shared, go to the link find out more and give direct to the company rather than via third party. This is to ensure 100% or most of your giving is to the right caused rather than wasted or being devour by other organizations in the name of charity.
Thank you for giving :) Good deeds will not go waste but will return to you many fold:) Like an Apple seed will return a trees with many apples, someday, somehow, someway :)

There's not a good amount, it's the heart that counts. I used to be a volunteer(helping out with lion befriender). Giving rations to elderly, helping them to clean their homes. You'll be shocked if you see it real life. I also give money to tissue sellers occasionally. Sometimes, will support some fund donation to animal groups when they are raising funds for dog operation etc.
