Do we pay more fees/cost when buying the same stock twice on the day?

Are there extra fees/costs if you buy the same stock on the same day? Should you just buy them together?

Hi anon,

You would be referring to order amalgamation. This does depend on the market. For example, on POEMS, the order must be:

  • done in a market that is eligible for order amalgamation. Please check the ‘Settlement’ section of the individual markets.

  • done on the same trading day,

  • for the same stock,

  • of the same action (BUY or SELL e.g. A buy action can be amalgamated with another buy action),

  • executed via the same platform,

  • done through the same account,

  • paid through the same payment mode (cash or CPF or SRS)

As an example. Say the minimum is $25 or 0.25%. You bought $5000 worth of a stock in the morning and another $5000 the next day in the afternoon. That will be $25 x 2 for the brokerage since 0.25% of $5000 is only $12.5. However if you bought them on the same day, then it will be calculated as 0.25% of $10000 which is $25.

Are you referring to "amalgamates trades"? U can google e keywords together w the brokerage firm u used. It shld giv you some faq link ..

If there is a minimum brokerage fee, and you're paying less than the minimum amount for each trade t...
