Disney just appointed a new CEO, will this affect your investing confidence in Disney?

Disney shares went down by 3.7%, is it a better time to buy their shares now? or would you wait to see the new CEO's performance?

Not really. As much as I like Bob Iger and is sad that he is leaving. Succession planning has already been in placed at Disney for quite some time. Bob Chapek was more or less already expected to take over the role of CEO.

Bob Chapek has been with Disney for some time and has work through the various business within Disney and has a complete understanding of the business. So he has the credientials to take up the top spot.

On top of that, Bob Iger actually steps down so that a new CEO is appointed. It is not a case of Disney firing the CEO to appoint a new one. This also meant that here will be a very clear transition and handover from the old Bob to the new Bob. This is very assuring for me as I know we are in good hands.

While having a good CEO is important for the management team, Disney as a business itself is also very important. They are into movies, theme parks, TV shows, Disney+, etc. And in every aspect of the business they are in, they are also quite successful. Look at the Marvel movies that a lot of us have been watching, and those Pixar cartoons. Their theme parks is also a dreamland where many people wants to go and still go despite them raising the theme park ticket prices again and again.

My confidence in Disney is definitely still there and this could be a good opportunity to get more DIS shares due to a temporay share price drop.
