Disillusioned about my career and seeking advice.

If you are preparing to start a family, then career cannot be the most impt goal - best for career to be stable and free of stress (where possible). The most impt should be caring for your child(ren) - you will need time to get the hang of this.
Good to talk to someone who is already with children and about same career path as urself - mentoring u.

While your current career is limited, there are opportunities to be an influencer/expert. Go tik tok and share your expertise and knowledge in optometrist, and answer misconceptions. Create a video when you got a feel of what people might want to know and don't know. Might end up knowing more people who need you or open paths.
