Credit Utilisation on Student Credit Cards

I'm planning to get a my first student credit card, but I noticed that the credit limit was only $500. Does SG follow the US way where credit utilisation plays a huge role of credit score where we need to follow a 30% utilisation rate ($150/month) as normally I spend about $500 ~ $800/month.

Also, is it possible to get a credit limit increase on a student credit card?
