If someone is a final year student studying part-time for a degree, and working a temporary contract job that pays between $2000-$2400, would it be advisable for them to apply for a credit card after being in the job for a month to build their credit score, or should they wait until they’ve graduated and secured a full-time position early next year? If yes, what credit cards can they consider looking into taken into consideration of the situation right now vs after graduation?

Yes, Credit would be possible too! I wrote about miles vs cashback argument in the context of a $2k monthly spent. https://www.mileswise.net/post/beginner-s-guide...

It would be better to wait until after graduation when you’ve secured a full-time job. This would make it easier to get approved for a card with better terms and benefits. In the meantime, you can check out this guide on cashback credit cards
to explore good options for the future.
