My miles are expiring soon, and I'm travelling to Penang soon to visit some family. Should I bother with redeeming this experience? or is it too much of a waste? am inclined to believe the latter.

The actual flying time is even shorter than that

i think it's quite a waste but of cos if u really want to experience EK first

or if u want to take loads of pics for bragging rights on fb or IG, go for it! :)

27,600 emirates miles can only get you business class.

but again, since it's expiring and you're going to Penang anyway, you don't have much choice anyway ;)

If you do not see yourself going for any trip or getting more miles till expiry, you should burn it to penang. Although you will not be able to fully enjoy the experience due to the short duration, but it is still an experience.

As linked by Elijah, Milelion website has written a comprenhensive analysis on utilising the Emirates SGp to penang route. Frankly if you have about 27000 miles expiring soon, this may be a good redemption venue to enjoy a short vacation and enjoy the premieum lounger avaliable in changi as well as Emirates B777 first class experience
