Hi All,
Recently applied for citibank cashback plus card and was shocked that other than CPF statement and payslip, they required my employement contract due the nature of my company
Is this something new for banks nowadays? As I never heard of this before..

Hi Anon,
By any chance, did you just start working recently with less than 3 months of full time pay? In such cases, banks may not feel comfortable with issuing credit cards yet due to the short history of salary.
Personally, I've encountered a similar issue, so perhaps it's a precaution that banks are taking now. My guess is that they're being a bit more prudent in the current environment, and seeing your contract can help to give them some confidence about your longer-term employability (and thus ability to afford a credit card).
I've insisted that I didn't want to send the contract and the bank has allowed me to proceed with the application anyway, so perhaps you can call the customer service and make an enquiry.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
