Career advice needed!

I'm a 26F working in my current job for 1.5 years currently earning $3,600 per month.

I have recently received a job offer for $4,500 per month with similar benefits.

As my previous job I have only worked for 1month and this current one for 1.5 years, would I be labelled as a job hopper? Moreover I am quite happy at my current job and therefore was wondering if it is worth the switch?

ps I value both money and happiness as equal importance

If I were you, I'd hop! If you are capable and your ability is valued elsewhere and hence they offer higher pay, why not? I see a positive way to answer the job change.

If you were happy, why did you go for the interview? Tbh, $900 (or 25%) increment is alot leh!

Job hopping is more common nowadays than ever. We cant ever fully comprehend whats its like to work in the supposed company. Do you hold it in and suffer just because you dont want to jump? I dont think thats a wise choice

There are too many factors in deciding whether to take up a job. Money is not the only factor and should not be. Without knowing much details, I'm trying my best here to share what I would do but please don't take a stranger's advice wholesale. Discuss with your trusted mentors, family and friends.

  1. This is a good opportunity to speak to HR to consider a pay raise. If they can match at least to $4000 per month with prospects of future increment/promotion, I will consider staying. I will weigh the job scope, learning opportunities and career prospects which determine if they match your career goals. I will also consider work life balance and company culture. All these determine your wellness and happiness in the job while earning the salary you deserve.
  2. For the new offer, I would consider the same things. Learning opportunities and career prospects, work life balance (whether with that amount of salary, would you be expected to work very long hours including some weekends). If you're paid more and are given opportunities to learn new skills, I think it's a great offer. But do make sure to find out more about the culture of the company. One of the reasons you're happy in your current job could be the culture which you can fit in well.
  3. There's no need to think about the duration of 1.5 years. You can always explain that a good opportunity comes by and you just grab it because you're a driven person and is willing to try new things in your 20s.
  4. Go to Glassdoor.com and search for this new company and see how the employees review them. I once found out the reason the company was desperately hiring was because there was a mass exit.

You can switch again if it does suit you
