Can I purchase BTO if I am under SGUnited Traineeship and my partner is a fresh graduate?

I'm under the SGUnited Traineeship (working for about 6 months now)

I am hoping to secure a BTO with my boyfriend (3-room flat) but currently I am the only one working while he has just graduated Dec 2020. I know that for your grant to be deferred you will need to have BOTH parties fresh grads/NSF/Studying.. And to get the grant you need to be working for at least 12 months. My worries are that this is a traineeship & thus I am drawing an ALLOWANCE, not salary. Is it possible to have the grant assessment period deferred? Thanks!

When did you graduate?

According to the HDB website addressing deferred income assessment, both of you need to be fresh grads (i.e., graduated/completed full time studies within the last 12 months prior to the flat application).

So I think one critical piece of information is when you completed your studies. If you graduated July 2020 for example, you'll still be eligible for income assessment deferment.

However, if you've graduated for more than a year, then I suggest the next course of action would be to start saving up between the two of you and wait till you've been employed and salaried for a full 12 months before applying for flat and undergoing income assessment.
