Both of you are business owners. What’s it like to start a business in Singapore today? What were some of the opportunities granted to you that made your entrepreneurial journey easier?

Any advice is good. Thanks

Starting a business is an extremely tough and lonely journey. You got to deal with everything on your own. Even selecting a co-founder (s) can be challenging. Passion alone is not going to make it work. You got to have the grit, determination and resilience too. Of course, having a deep pocket is necessary, especially during this pandemic era. You have to pay rental, wages, overheads and service loans during circuit breaker, phase two, phase three, back to heightened alert, etc. So one must deal with — on top of difficult customers — the ever-changing regulations and rules, hardworking social distancing officers etc.

The entrepreneurship scene now is a lot friendlier as compared to 12 years ago when I first started. There are many schemes from the various Government agencies, to IHL offering entrepreneurship courses, and budding ecosystems to raise funds, scout for talents and partners.

For me, one of the helpful schemes would be the GRT for me to deepen my talent pool - https://www.enterprisesg.gov.sg/non-financial-a...

Attracting talents are necessary to scale and grow the company and the PCP scheme helped me to attract talents - https://www.wsg.gov.sg/programmes-and-initiativ...
