Should I hold on to both a mastercard & visa? I have both right now, but I'm definitely not using my Visa and thinking of terminating that card. I'm not well-versed in Credit Cards, which is why I'm asking for advice if I should still hold on to the Visa just so that I have at least 1 of each.

If the card you want to terminate does not have an annual fee, KEEP IT. If it does, call up the bank every year for a fee waiver (as long as you use it for example 1 small purchase a month and pay it off in full). MC vs Visa does not matter in the grand scheme of things.
What you want to take advantage of is building and keeping a good credit score. Just having a CC with you even if you don't use it helps keep you in good standing. You could literally just whip it out once in a while for a single lunch purchase or a vending machine drink and then pay it off and leave it at that.
