While it's essential to be conscious of the environmental impact of plastic usage, it's also crucial to maintain hygiene standards when disposing of waste. Here are some recommendations:

  1. Reusable Bags: Consider investing in reusable bags made from environmentally friendly materials. These can serve as alternatives to plastic bags when shopping.
  2. Separate Waste: When disposing of waste, separate recyclables from non-recyclables. Many areas have recycling bins, and it's a responsible way to manage your trash.
  3. Community Programs: Check if your community has any waste management or recycling programs. They often provide guidelines on responsible disposal.
  4. Reduce Consumption: One of the best ways to address the plastic issue is to reduce consumption. Be mindful of what you purchase and try to minimize single-use plastics.

Regarding the 5-cent charge, it's designed to encourage people to be more mindful of their plastic bag usage. While it may seem like a small fee, it can collectively make a significant difference in reducing plastic waste. Ultimately, transitioning to more sustainable practices benefits both the environment and future generations.

Bring bag and have to buy rubbish bag no choice 😭

You can also try recycling used polymailers from online deliveries instead of tossing them away. Some are in fact of better quality than normal plastic bags, thick and large enough to even line your bins with. Tear off your address label + secure with those red rubber bands/tape before disposal. It's hygienic, considerate and supports the go-green initiative.

I started buying plastic bags. our garbage collector does not clear my bin if there is loose rubbish...
