Is there a minimum spend per month that you should have in order to justify getting a miles card?

There's no minimum spending to earn miles. Only certain cards (such as UOB) rewards you based on $5 per block spending. i.e. You spend $9 you are reward with $5 miles.

That would depends on your ultimate purpose, you don't need to be A high Spender To earn Miles, although by spending smartly on the right cards might get you more miles that let say, you spend generally on a single card.

So choose your cards wisely and keep that spending habit and you should be ok your way to be on a Business Suite on those Long haul flight! ;)

Both cash back and miles card are okay. You just need to plan ahead if you are using miles card.

There's no minimum spend needed to get a miles card. Miles are a form of delayed gratification game, but the payoff comes in the form of experiences that you can get that you normally not shell out form.

Most cashback cards have a minimum spend before you can unlock the increased cashback categories. Miles card generally give you miles from the first dollar. Thus there's no need for any minimum spend in generally. Also, for some cards, the miles earned don't expire, so you can take some time to increase your balance for a redemption down the road.

However if the appeal of flying business class isn't present for you, then I'd say go for a cashback card.

On the contary, if you are not spending a lot, it may make more sense to use a miles card if you are...
