Realised I gradually lost interest in engineering after 7 years in the industry. Many career interest test results (e.g. mbti, riasec) point me to accounting/audit field. Intending to sign up for CA Singapore (foundation) classes soon.

I think you should look harder into what type of career you would like to switch to. accounting is a career that most people switch out from as the opportunities are alot lesser compared to other careers

Contary to what other advice you might get here, it is true that traditionally a big 4 pedigree would be the only way to an accounting path. But depending on which area of accounting you are keen to pursue I would suggest if you are willing to take a pay cut which is definite- explore applying the statistical and math knowledge you have and take up accounting courses as recommended and focus on fund administration fields. Singapore has seen an explosion of private family offices, private equity funds and increasingly real estate. There are no lack of opportunities for people with drive an ambition.
