Am I right to say, as long as I invest in a US-based (e.g. Vanguard S&P 500) index fund, whether the index fund is an accumulation type or distribution type, I am subjected to the 30% withholding tax?

Am I always subjected to the 30% withholding tax for US-based index funds?

What are your thoughts?

If is distribution, will have 30% tax. If accumulation then no taxes cause it adds back to share price
