Hello, I have been seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist at a govt hospital for almost a year now, still on going treatment.
I’m thinking of getting a CI plan with AIA. I’m just reluctant and scared to declare my condition (depression) as they will probe for more information and medical notes. Uncomfortable to share with my FA (which is helping me do the CI plan)
Shld I take the risk of not getting any premiums cash out.
Once declare, will be in system forever..
any advice will be helpful

Hi anon,
You have to declare your condition, especially if you are still undergoing treatment. Your health condition is still 'in flux' and insurers need to know your prognosis and other relevant details to make an underwriting decision.
If you don't declare, and the condition is found out later, AIA will very likely void the entire plan due to non disclosure. You will be in a worse off situation in this case. The re-insurer may also be informed about this and you may face difficulty with other insurers in future when trying to get coverage.
As much as I would hope for all my clients to get the coverage that they need, the harsh reality is that any major pre-existing conditions does make the underwriting that much harder. So for anyone else reading this, don't take your health for granted. Get your coverage done up as early as practically possible. Even infants are getting their critical illness coverage done up.

You NEED to declare bc if not you’ll have a lot of problems when you want to claim the $$$ later on as they’ll do proper checks …. & when they find out abt your “undeclared condition”, they can say you’re a fraud + not pay out your “deserved payout” + not return you the premiums you’ve paid so far!!!!
