A CEO offered me an unexpected verbal job during a meeting. However, to date, I'm still waiting for the formal offer. What should I be doing to secure it?

I was in a meeting with the CEO of a company that my agency was working with. Towards the end of the meeting, the CEO caught me outside and offered me a job at his company. I've worked with this CEO multiple times and he said I am a great fit for the company.

I agreed to the offer after I heard more details from him. We ended the chat with him mentioning that he would email me a formal offer the following week.

However, it's been one week and I've yet to hear from him. I followed up with a message and he replied that an offer was coming. The company size is around 40-100 people and I thought it will be quicker than this.

Since the last message, it's been another 10 days. The company is reputable in my industry and no doubt is a great opportunity. What should I do next?

Thanks all!

Uhoh.. if he is not following up with you even after you've texted him, it probably means that he is not THAT keen on getting you onboard. Perhaps it's not an urgent position, or there are other candidates who are applying as well?

Even if he is sincere about giving you that position, the fact that he told you he'd send you an offer the following week but did not follow through is a massive red flag to me.

But either way, it doesn't look like a great sign, if I were you I'd reconsider this company!
