The rates are not too ideal. And if you are rushing to send money and urgently, western union is not really suitable. However, they really do have many branches around the world, so use them if you don't really have a choice.1
What are your thoughts?Some remittance agencies boast they don't take any exchange rates conversions. Do not be fooled. They make money by taking money from the recipient who receives less than what he should receive.

Good point is you can send money to almost all counties in the world. The bad thing is there are a lot of steps you have to do before the recipient receive the money, and normally the exchange rate is not that good.1
What are your thoughts?Most of these remittance agencies fool you. They don't charge you at the exchange rate. But they pay less money to the receipeint at the other end. They hide this fact from the sender.
Transfer Wise is OK. They tell you upfront everything. And their rates are decent. Remittances are done within hours.

Very high fees (explicit transfer charges, FX rates with margin) Only USP that would lead me to use is their extensive branch network (both in country so branches nearby and at target country where remittance may benefit from good branch network) However if transaction going to bank in target country - likely to get better rates from bank (eg DBS now running free remit services and even their rates-with-margin better than WU) Did transaction to help out my FDW maid - unlikely to use again given branch network is not useful helpful and can use online banking otherwise0

Western Union website shows the transfer transaction is complete. However, the money isn't delivered as it should be received on September 22, 2024 but the money has never showed up at the bank. Western Union gave me Transfer Code and asked to go to the bank. My bank told me the Transfer Code isn't exist. Contacted Western Union again and they admitted there was system update and some transactions were affected. They said will give me update but never heard anything and they haven't delivered the money. Please send the money as my family need it.0

Not recommend. Sent money from Singapore to Egypt. We have provided MTCN number and Receiver's correct name and spelling. They claimed that it has to be relatives and need to show proof of relatives before they can release the money which is irrelevant to MTCN international number. Means they don't honour MTCN number. It's a load of crap. Bullshit. I request for cancell of transfer and refund me back. They said bank transfer have to wait 7 working days. I have yet to receive the money. To all singaporeans and other nationals, DO NOT TRUST WESTER UNION. Not Reliable. Have regretted miserably. Horrible experience.0

I made a transfer and forgot to indicate the ref number. I took 17 Days and my money still not refunded back to my account even the transaction was cancelled immediately. The customer service providing different answer and when you visit the branch they wont even entertained you because transaction. To date they even do the refund and keep asking weird details seems that illogical. I worked in Finance and those info you asked i enough to send the money back to my bank account. If you cant even returned or transfer your client on time. I dont know how your money transfer be reliable. I recommend other remittance center. They have poor customer service and nasty tellers.
