Credit Cards

Would you say the AMEX CapitaCard is a good choice for someone getting their first credit card?

I shop quite a bit at CapitaMalls, and getting STAR$ (Capitapoints) sounds like quite a good deal. Are there much better cards out there other than this one?

If you drive and enjoy the STAR$, then I do recommend this. I spend my family expense on this card and usually exceed the $1.2k per month to enjoy 3hr free parking per mall under their umbrella of malls. So I can park at Raffles City for 3hrs and do what I need to there and go over to Bugis Junction/Bugis+ and enjoy another 3hr free parking! You can save so much parking costs.

If you are getting it for the points, it's also rather worth it. You pay using the card to earn STAR$ rewards then you scan the receipt via the app to earn STAR$ again. So you are earning 2x - 11x times STAR$.

Another great card to apply if you want an alternative would be the SCB Unlimited Cashback that often gives out great gifts. I got a set of Airpods Pro for signing up via SingSaver.

If you travel often and want miles to convert for free air tickets, do check out the DBS Altitude or the Citi Premier Miles. Those card give great miles-per-dollar(MPD) spending.

Haha I got this card as my first credit card as well cos I like that it can supercharge my capita points, then change it for vouchers or buy discounted items through the app. Then I gradually changed to cashback cards cos I realised the equivalent "cashback" rate for capita card is not v worth it. So I switched to other cards that better suits me.
