Will Apple win the Watch Market?

Apple unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 6 yesterday. I think it's a new market that Apple is creating. Not everyone wears or own a pair of Watch. Legacy Watch will still be relevant as timeless pieces and as a luxury statement. But I feel it's a new market for Apple as it addresses healthcare, especially given our current climate. What are your thoughts? Is the Apple Watch a greater catalyst compared to their iPhones?

For starters, I don't think Apple Watch will be a greater catalyst because as you said not everyone has the habit of wearing a watch like myself. For this group, its going to hard to convince them to drop a big sum of money on a product that they are unsure they'll have the discipline to use in the first place. I used to wear watches but just at some point just couldn't be bothered with the extra step to leave home.

Another consideration is the Apple Watch market size definitely won't outgrow the iPhone's since it will only make sense to get an Apple Watch if you have an iPhone. It's the ecosystem thing.

I also don't think COVID will neccesarily get people to consider about their health in the way that the Apple Watch can help. Apple Watch helps with your general health that can help you detect illnesses that everybody has a chance to kena. But COVID is a pandemic. I think is a bit different. Like those who are fit etc. also during this pandemic not say immune to COVID either. But if there are people who do see it that way, then there's a chance it will boost sales. Not significantly it what I'm saying.

Don't know bout fashion so can't comment on it being a fashion piece as are legacy watches.

Another thing is the price right. Even with the SE, it's still very expensive (more ex than S3) for a watch if you consider the majority who is okay with a Casio below $100 and consider $300 pushing it for a luxury piece. And then some features also not very intuitive I feel. Like blood oxygen I don't think many hear before. Exercise more is a abu den thing. Sleep feature dk who use cos people dun wear to bed. Altitude...huh?
