Which account is the best for expenditure for students? So I am a polytechnic student this year, and I was just wondering which banks offer good rebates and stuff like that for students for expenditure wise?

Because I am intending to open a Singlife and Standard Chartered Jumpstart for my savings accounts. Thanks!

You can open both a Standard Chartered jumpstart account and a Singlife account! However, I recommend you to max out your Singlife account of 10K first before putting the rest into standard chartered!

Yes, Singlife and SCB Jumpstart is good for savings account

As for expenses, you dont really have many options, unless you want to take up student credit card such as DBS livefresh.

I am personally using crypto.com MCO Card for 2% cashback on everything

Hey Zac,

  • You can consider the following savings accounts

1) RHB High Yield Savings Plus (1.05% p.a, up to $50k)

2) Vivid Savings (1.05% p.a, up to $10k)

3) Standard Chartered Jumpstart (1% p.a, up to $20k)

  • If you'd like something of higher interest, you may consider

4) Singlife (non-guaranteed 2.5% p.a, up to $10k)

5) Dash Easyearn (guaranteed 2% p.a for 1 year, up to $20k)

*$0.70 withdrawal fee

6) Etiqa Elastiq (guaranteed 1.8% p.a for 3 years, up to $50k)

*3 months lock-in

  • As for cards, you may consider

7) SCB's Debit Card which comes together with Jumpstart (1% cashback)

8) Maybank eVibes Credit Card (1% cashback)

9) DBS Live Fresh Credit Card (5% cashback on Spotify, Netflix, McDonalds & Starbucks, 0.3% on others)

Personally, I use 3, 4, 6, 8 & 9 so let me know if you have any questions!

I would recommend the SCB Jumpstart account which gives 1% on Contactless Payment. If you do spend more than $400 a month, then the DBS Visa Debit Card would be better at 3% cashback. To get even more rewards, I link my phone to Google Pay and pay contactless via my Phone linked to my SC Debit card. I get the 1% and Google Pay has rewards from $0.50-$50 for the first 3 transactions(min $10) every week.

If you would like to sign up to Google Pay and get a $3 referral, use my link below. Do share the link with family and friends too to earn more cashback as well.
