What's the biggest money mistake your parents taught you?

Managing money is pretty complicated. Sometimes our parents don't realise that the decisions they make or the lessons they impart can have a huge impact on our relationship with money and how we manage our finances. What's the biggest mistake yours passed onto you?

I would concur with some of the comments below - in general, older generation do not have much mindset on financial awareness, investments or managing money. The core concept to them is purely savings. There are definitely so much more when it comes to financial awareness in Singapore - CPF, investments, robo-advisors, etc.

But the biggest takeaway that I had was to be frugal, to really understand the value of money. And that on most occassions, we can always save wisely.
