Why do firms that are doing ipos have to rely on big investment banking names like jp morgan, morgan stanley etc.? Can't they just do it themselves as ibs definitely will ask for huge serving fees?

Are you mostly buying big and safe stocks (Amazon, Apple, etc.) or risking with new and smaller companies?
