In terms of service/ quality of food, just overall experience

I've flown Business on Thai, SQ, ANA, Finnair and United (haha).
Guess the best one would be SQ by far. Still the only airline that greeted me by name when I boarded the plane (how on earth they knew it was me still beats me), and the massive seat/bed just added to it (2006 J). The SQ cabin crew know how to have that slight edge on other airlines (very attentive with refills, clearing, tidying up my seat while I went to the toilet, etc), it's something I cannot explain, but if they didn't, Thai and ANA would have been my next favourite experiences. Thai just kept stuffing me with garlic bread, and the ANA service was in all aspects what you'd come to expect from the Japanese.
Finnair was good, just not in the same league as the Asian carriers.
Dear United....2-4-2 in business is not business.....
For me, it is quite a simple yet memorable experience - where I was bumped up from a Scoot to SQ flight. What was supposed to be a sleepless 8 hour flight, became one of utmost comfort - comparatively. Adding on the free meals and most of us having the full row of seats, it became one of my best airline experience.
According to Scoot, they had a "tighter aircraft utilization across their network arising from travel demand" hence the Scoot flight was unable to fulfill the return flight. Whatever the reason, kudos to both Scoot and SQ!
For me, I would say business SQ is definitely the best out of the ones I have done.
I feel slightly fake with the niceness the staff has but to be honest, I rather take that over some other airlines where the staff is rather not pleasent even in a business ticket.
So far I have flown only in economy across all flights.
The best experience I had was Qatar airways return from Doha to Singapore. During that flight, there were only 8 passengers in economy. That included my 3 friends and I.
Service for food and drinks was extremely fast and I enjoyed having 3 seats to myself. One of the best experience I had which will definitely never repeat
Everybody here seems pretty rich, to have been flying Business Class so much. I'm quite poor so I can only share my experience on Economy Class!
The full-fledge airlines that I've flew with - Singapore Airlines, Finnair, China Southern, Cathay Pacific, ANA.
My ranking based on personal experience:
Honestly speaking, the reason why Singapore Airlines is ranked no. 2 because unlike ANA, Singapore Airlines have inconsistent standard of service. If you're lucky, the service crew is proper and friendly, assist you with your baggage, attend to your pings fast. If you're unlucky, you get a bunch of service crew who only bother to help Caucasians who are tall enough to settle their own baggage, reply to you curtly or make you wait for the service for 30 minutes. Food, entertainment and comfort of seats for Singapore Airlines are top-notch although I can also say the same for ANA too, just that ANA has consistent service and they don't treat you unfairly just because you're non-Caucasian/non-Japanese, which is the sole reason why it's better that Singapore Airlines for me.
I flew on the 787 Dreamliner with Finnair. Entertainment was good (recent movies were available), food portion was good too albeit slightly blend taste, the seat was spacious and comfortable. The only complaint that I have, which is might more plane-related than airline-related is that the night light is too bright yet Finnair did not have a single eye mask on the plane, despite it having a flight time of close to 13 hours! Because of this lack of preparation on their end and not-as-nice food, they fall short from the top of my list.
Cathay Pacific was not satisficatory to meet my expectations of a 5-star airline. I flew Boeing 777 with them, which is spacious and the seat was quite comfortable. It didn't come across as clean as ANA and Singapore Airlines but it wasn't too bad. But the food was horrible (for a 5-star airline). Portion was small, food was overcooked and lumpy. Service was average, the service crew did not seem that friendly.
I flew China Southern to China. China Southern felt more like a regional airline, similar to SIlkAir. Planes are quite small, there isn't an individual screen for entertainment. Service was alright, nothing to complain about but nothing much to praise for either. The snacks given tasted odd; instead of the usual nuts and biscuits that most airlines would give, China Southern gave some preserved vegetable strand thing that apparently is quite a common snack in China? My friend and I didn't like it though. The meal provided is also very Chinese-oriented, with a lot of sour/preserved food flavour, which I don't fancy. Needless to say, I don't rank it high. The good thing about China Southern is that their fares are very reasonable.
Best is Business Class of SQ Airlines from Singapore to Los Angeles & coming forth New York to Singapore non-stop flight.
To me, the best is still SQ, followed by Qatar and then ANA
Personally I prefer the Japanese and Taiwan full service carriers over Singapore Airlines.
Service: Personally experienced much better (and more genuine) service than Japan and Taiwan airlines, compared to Singapore airlines. Sad to say, I sometimes find some SQ girls snooty.
Food: Better as well. I also recall a friend who always would book Japan airlines, simply because they always had Hokkaido milk XD
Best would be involuntary op up from LHR-HKG in BA.
Due to irregular ops from ARN, I was going to miss my originally booked Heathrow flight and the ticketing lady didn't know what to do since both Y and PEY were all zeros. So she just issued out a Club World ticket (full J so got miles as well hahahah). As it was all last minute, I even snagged the normally blocked seat on the biz class exit row. It was awesome with great food (fresh smoked salon if I recall correct, it was 15 years ago) and a seat with more buttons than I could deal with (I travel a lot regionally so know my way around the normal controls but the BA panel in J has almost double the butttons as others!
2nd would be a birthday opup to Emirates First but that was short haul so while I could enjoy the champagne the flight was just too short to drink it all (but personal minibar was definitely cute....)
Qatar is currently the best rated airline!
I will personally be taking it to the states this Jan. So I will update you then:)
I am blessed to have flew with a couple of airlines so far. My first choice will always be Singapore Airlines.
In short, it is almost impossible to go wrong with it - food, customer service (be it on the phone, at the counter, or inflight) - best service that I ever had, inflight entertainment.
The next in line will be Emirates - food, customer service (not as good as Singapore Airlines), inflight entertainement - better as there is free limited WiFi and larger screen for movies.
Here is everything about me and what I do best.
