What forms of expense tracking systems did you use and what are some tips to maximise them?

I dont use any tracking system. I think thrift is a personality that is nutured and self disciplined. Many of our parents are naturally thrifty and they certainly dont need such apps to help them. we should take a chapter from them.

It is probably more important to appreciate the value of money spent today, have a high value in future. This has helped me to be thrifty. i.e. if I have a 5% to 10% compounding opportunity, every $10 I spend today might be $50 to $100 tomorrow... so better hold back on my spending..

I use a phone app to track my expenses, then key it into an excel sheet i made!
