Sometimes, financially smart decision may not always be the best decision. Have to also consider sentimentality, etc, when your employees have worked with you for years. The company got to where they are (before covid) was also with the help of these employees. Now when the company gets into trouble then want to kick them off?
Best way is to repurpose those rooms. Perhaps study room (exam season), or video conferencing place (esp with sound insulation), etc. Or a pay cut to prolong their life.
