Understand that it's earnings season now. What is earnings season and what do they report? Can we tell if a business is doing well based on their earnings report?

Hi there!

Earnings season is when a company is reporting its financial statement to the SEC (for US companies at least)

They report every quarter (usually) Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4

Basically the company is reporting its financial statement!

YES you can tell if the business is good from the financial report but of course there are many other factors to consider as well.

I understand that P/E ratio stands for - Company's share price to per-share earnings. But I do not understand how it works?
