Rented before as a student more than 10 years back, so the prices have probably changed by now. On the other hand, I have many Indian/Filippino colleagues on work pass who rent rooms in HDB flats - these can be anywhere between 400 to 800 per room depending on location. For example, rentals in Yishun are usually closer to the 400 range. Somewhere like Kovan or Tampines would be closer to 700/800. If you are looking at condos, they would be slightly higher due to the amenities, of course. For more price ranges, you can look at AirBnB too.

Why not get your bf to stay with you instead? Bto is quite easy to get if not picky about size and location. 4room selection is fast. Sale of balance flats are abundant too.

Sorry to tell you this. Only Singapore Citizens are allowed to rent out the HDB flat. Singapore Permanent Resident flat owners are not allowed to do so. The above is the RIGHT way. If u catch what i meant. Hope my reply helps. If you feel this reply have Quality, please upvote and check other Quality Reply. https://seedly.sg/profile/a-kenichi-xi Thank you.

If you're not comfortable with having a stranger at home, then i'd suggest not to do that. Home is supposed to be warm and cozy, a place to rest up and recover. If having a stranger in your house is going to affect you, then it might not be worth it.

Market rate now for a bedroom is around $500-$650, best is to get the lowest so you won’t be taking too much of your income to pay for rent.

My mum owns property in Malaysia, but I don't think she pays tax in SG for it, so in short I don't think so! However, I believe that Malaysia does place a heavy tax on Singaporeans owning porperty in Malaysia. Again, not sure of the exact figures, but because of this, my mother prefers to sell the property when she is older instead of passing it on to us.

If you can find a good SBF, and you don't wanna wait, I'll choose that. Renting is also an expense, extending your lease just to get BTO also might not make the best financial sense especially if it can go immediately towards paying down your mortgage.

Is your 180k a month a consistent stream of income? Renting is cheaper u save alot. But given your income, I'm surprise u are not paying 20k/mth to rent a good class bungalow instead.

Sorry to hear that. Consider getting the flat ownership transferred to you and one parent, or to just one parent - hdb may allow. But u will need to sort out who will continue servicing the loan and expenses, and what needs to be refunded to cpf.
